Preform
Trench Drain Installation Information
Installation
Instructions:
Perhaps the greatest
advantage to Preform Trench Drain (PTD) innovative design
concept is how it simplifies the trench drain installation
process. A complete installation can be achieved following
five simple steps:
- EXCAVATING TRENCH:
The
trench should be dug to desired depth and sewer outlets
installed where desired.
- SETTING PTD HOUSING INTO
TRENCH:
Bolt the box frames together and suspend in
trench at proper grade (see step 3). Bolt on end plates
where needed.
- ACHIEVING PROPER GRADE:
Use angles provided with your housing to set the box
into proper position and to the proper grade. Pour
concrete for bottom and sides in one pour - or - pour a
rough footer bed first at proper level, then pour both
sides using the anchors welded to the outside of the box
to achieve proper grade. These concrete anchors also act
as a stabilizer for the housing to prevent undesired
movement.
- DRAINAGE PITCH:
Pour
concrete inside the box for drainage pitch.
- PLACE GRATING/COVER IN
PLACE:
Simply place desired grating or diamond plate
cover on to housing and secure with clips.
NOTE:
- Where vehicle traffic
will pass over Preform Trench Drain, it is necessary to
surround this trench drain with 4-6 inches of concrete.
- Preform Trench Drain has
no bottom and concrete is used to provide the pitch or
slope from the high point in the strip to the low point
at the sewer outlet. Outlets should be provided BEFORE
any concrete is poured.
Sump units are installed in a
like manner using a cutting torch or cold chisel to provide
openings for sewer tile outlets or vent lines in the sides
of the steel sump stool. After lines are installed, pour the
bottom and sides, completing the sump installation.
